Cooking and fish fertilizer

Cooking has role and benefit filters, exact meal/drink effects, durations, servings and ingredient-source hints. Ordinary recipes begin at 75% success and are guaranteed 20 skill later or at 100 Cooking. One meal and one drink are active; matching effects use the stronger value.

Fish Cakes give +1 fish, Blueback Harbor Chowder and Three-Fish Stew give +2, and named gathering meals give +3. Tidewatch and three-fish specialties use relative chance bonuses capped at 20%, respecting fishing skill, location and bottle cooldowns.

Prepare Fish Fertilizer at a hearth with 20 Cooking: 4 Fresh Fish + 1 Wild Herb. With 20 Farming, apply one dose beside a growing ordinary planted crop for +2 crops on its next harvest, alongside food. No repeat applications, extra seeds, named crops or reagent gardens.

Current systems

Ask about runes, GM ore refining, deer/venison, secured deck displays, fishing catch crates, salvage, lifetime stats or combat action keys.

Combat keys are configurable beside the action bar. Ordinary smelting trains Mining; named refining requires 100 Blacksmithing. Boat fishing catches stack in the backpack even above its weight limit. Older catch crates retain their expiry; backpack fish, secured displays and cargo do not decay.

Wayfarer's Guide

Getting started: Wayfarer's Vale is a classless skill game with a total skill cap of 700.0. Skills improve mainly by doing the activity. Early gains come quickly, gains slow after 60, and mastery above 90 is deliberately demanding. Appropriate difficulty matters: trivial actions are poor training for masters. In Skills, use ↑ gain, • lock, or ↓ lower to control how the skill cap is spent.

Stats: STR, DEX, and INT each currently cap at 100 and grow from related activities. Melee combat and successful Blacksmithing are strong STR training; Archery, successful Carpentry/Tinkering/Tailoring, and Fishing are strong DEX training; Magery is the strongest INT route per action, with Meditation and Fishing also building INT. STR adds maximum health and INT adds maximum mana.

Shared Vale: Shared Vale uses a persistent server-backed account and character roster. You can explicitly import an existing local save, including characters, inventories, banks, cottage/coffer/vendors, skiff/cargo, Waystones, and progression. Shared Vale is the only playable world; older local saves are preserved for import.

Online world: Shared Vale shows nearby travellers and persistent public cottages/skiffs. Other players' property remains secured to its owner. Cottage shopkeepers can either sell to simulated Vale shoppers or be reserved for traveller purchases; player-reserved stock is never consumed by simulated shoppers. Buyers must physically visit the cottage. There is no auction house or global marketplace.

Movement & interaction: On desktop, hold the mouse on open ground to steer/run, release to stop, or use WASD/arrows for deliberate movement. Double-click creatures to engage; Tab cycles nearby targets and Space interacts/attacks. Clicking objects still uses normal interaction/pathing. Ground tiles remain logical grid cells underneath, but movement and terrain presentation are smoothed visually.

Traveller's Map: The minimap tracks your immediate surroundings. Map opens the larger 960×640 continent view with regions, discovered landmarks, all placed cottages you own, your selected skiff, and Shared Vale public property. Your cottages use bright gold house markers; other travellers' cottages are purple. Map markers scale with zoom.

Mining: Mining progresses through Iron → Copper (30) → Cobalt (55) → Verdant (75) → Starsteel (90). Higher metals require more skill to mine, smelt, and work. At 100 Mining, each fresh vein has a rare 1% chance to be a Motherlode; if discovered, every successful extraction from that entire vein yields 5× ore until the node is exhausted.

Better profession tools: Tinkers craft five tool families at a Tinker’s Bench: Prospector Picks for Mining, Feller’s Axes for Lumberjacking, Angler’s Reels for Fishing, Smith’s Hammers for Blacksmithing, and Joiner’s Saws for Carpentry. Iron tools require 20 Tinkering; Copper 38, Cobalt 58, Verdant 78, and Starsteel 94 unlock progressively. Each metal tier uses matching wood boards. Better tools modestly improve work speed, useful yield for gathering, craft precision for smiths and carpenters, and durability. Matching colored picks can occasionally free extra ore from the same metal. Orin sells a plain starter pick. In the Bag, filter Tools and choose Use This Tool; only the active tool wears until it breaks or you switch. Repair at a Tinker bench with matching ingots.

Lumberjacking: Timber progresses through Vale Oak → Pale Ash (30) → Redheart (55) → Ironbark (75) → Moonwood (90). Different woods appear in different parts of the Vale and can be milled into matching boards. At 100 Lumberjacking, each fresh tree has a rare 1% chance to contain Perfect Heartwood, making every successful cut from that tree yield 5× logs until it is worked bare.

Fishing: Shore fishing remains useful, while Reedwater, deep water, and Moonwake Shoals provide harder late-skill training and unusual catches. Sealed Treasure Bottles unlock at 90 Fishing; all five hidden treasure tiers can then occur, with higher Fishing and deeper/dangerous water modestly improving the odds. Gloomfins are rare deep-water ambushes: they are uncommon, cannot chain-spawn from fishing, and are dangerous enough that an unprepared fisherman may need to flee.

Treasure & magic gear: Treasure sources and eligible monster equipment can generate magic items from Tier I–V. Higher tiers strengthen affixes and can carry multiple properties. Monster-specific equipment can keep its themed built-in property while also rolling random magic. Even ordinary eligible monster drops retain a tiny Tier V lottery chance, while dangerous foes, elites, shamans, and bosses improve the odds.

Mossmere Enclave: Mossmere is the Vale's arcane settlement. Selene sells spell reagents and Blank Waystone Runes, and the enclave includes a shrine, bank access, forge, carving bench, and weaving table. Reagents—Emberleaf, Mooncap, Veilroot, and Starpetal—also grow in the world and can appear in treasure and monster loot.

Magery: The current spellbook contains Arcane Bolt (10), Mending Light (30), Waystep (45), Binding Mist (50), Waymark (60), Starfire (70), Arcane Ward (75), and Waygate (85). Spells consume mana and their listed reagents. Higher Magery improves magical effectiveness and efficiency.

Waystones & travel: Waymark binds a Blank Waystone Rune to your current safe overworld location. Open Rune Book from Bag or Magic to search, group and favorite carried marked runes. Edit / Reuse can rename a rune or confirm Clear Markings to recover one blank; re-marking uses the normal Waymark spell. Marked Waystones can be stored, traded, or sold through player vendors. Cast Waystep to open a compact list of marked destinations and travel personally. Waygate opens a short-lived two-way portal; in Shared Vale, any traveller—including strangers—may use it. Travel casting is restricted during active combat and unsafe situations.

Boats: Tamsin Reed waits at Reedwater Reach. A Reedwater Skiff Deed costs 20,000 gold. The Reedwater Skiff holds 22 cargo slots and 3 secured deck displays. Tamsin can refit an owned skiff into the Glasswake Boat for 40 Tideglass Shards; it holds 34 cargo slots and 5 deck displays. Both use standard sailing speed, so Glasswake is a capacity/prestige upgrade rather than a mandatory speed upgrade. Tamsin repurchases unused Skiff Deeds and empty packed owned boats for 20,000 gold; a Glasswake's Tideglass refit is not refunded. Launch beside shore, board from adjacent land, and use the Vessel Ledger or the boat itself for management.

Sea exploration: Reedwater connects to the southern sea. Gullstone Isle, Moonwake Shoals, the Lantern Wreck, Farwatch Islet, and other islands reward longer voyages with fishing opportunities, exploration, and danger.

Blacksmithing: Smelt ore into ingots, then forge weapons, armor, and shields. Different metals carry modest identity through color, durability, and selected combat bonuses. The current 75/90/100 crafting milestones add Exceptional work, repeat-use consumables/material conservation, and Grandmaster masterwork/maker benefits.

Carpentry: Mill Vale Oak, Pale Ash, Redheart, Ironbark, and Moonwood into matching boards, then turn those timbers into equipment and a broad furniture catalog. Furniture keeps the identity of its wood through color and detailing. At 25 Carpentry, make one Dressed Masonry Block at a carpenter’s bench from 3 Rough Building Stone and 1 Vale Oak board. Rough Building Stone is a 26% bonus from successful mining at any ore vein with a working Prospector Pick; Stone Husks in Broken Spur Quarry also drop it. Higher Carpentry unlocks more demanding woods and furnishings, including the Ironbark Artisan Workbench at 90 and a Grandmaster Moonwood Curio Hutch at 100. Crafted storage chests increase House Coffer capacity while placed at home.

Vale City Wall: In Shared Vale, visit the works yard near (295, 294) to help build the approved perimeter around the whole city. The timber palisade needs 156,000 gold, 5,000 Vale Oak logs, and 5,000 Vale Oak boards. The masonry phase then needs 195,000 more gold and 1,040 Dressed Masonry Blocks. The iron reinforcement needs 260,000 more gold and 780 Iron Fittings. Each phase is completed across the full city wall before the next accepts supplies. Prior contributions remain credited. The four gates remain passable and corner towers appear as construction progresses.

Tailoring: Leather armor progresses from beginner pieces into hardened and master-level equipment. Armor Dressing becomes a repeat-use defensive consumable at high skill, with stronger Grandmaster results.

Crafting stations: Use nearby profession stations to open the Artisan's Craftbook. The Craftbook opens as a dedicated window. Equipment has durability and wears through real use; repair it at the appropriate forge, carpenter's bench, or tailor's table. Repairs restore current condition but reduce maximum durability, with skilled crafters preserving items better.

Combat builds: There are no rigid classes. Weapon skills gain milestone benefits as they rise. Daggers favor speed/precision, swords are balanced, and bows attack from range while benefiting strongly from Dexterity. Magic, Healing, Meditation, armor choices, and utility skills can be mixed within the overall skill cap.

Meditation: Press M, use the Meditate skill button, or tap the mobile Meditate control when mana is missing. Meditation restores mana, gains through use, and improves passive mana regeneration at higher skill.

Characters: Each save/account can hold up to four independent characters. Characters share household property where appropriate but retain their own skills, equipment, progression, and exact last location—including which home interior they were standing in. Use Characters to create or switch builds.

Bank & storage: The town bank is character-specific and stores item stacks, equipment, and marked Waystone Runes; its Bank All Pack action is available beside a bank chest. The cottage House Coffer and skiff Cargo Hold remain broader physical storage and accept all current player-held item classes.

Inventory stacks: Ordinary stackable items can be Split into persistent piles for organization or vendor stocking and later Merged. Selected split piles can be moved independently to vendors, the House Coffer, or the skiff. Sealed Treasure Bottles can also be split into separate mystery stacks without revealing their hidden tiers.

Housing: House brokers in Vale City, Mossmere, and Reedwater sell ten fixed-layout homes, including the Wayside Cottage, Timber Homestead, Farmhouse, Barnhouse, Market House, Warehouse, Grand Market Hall, Vale Manor, Grand Lodge, and Highcourt Estate. The Market House has eight vendor spaces; the open Grand Market Hall has sixteen and two doors at opposite ends. The Warehouse specializes in coffer storage. Open the physical House Coffer inside a placed home to manage storage, furnishings, shopkeepers, staged utility projects, and exterior timber siding or metal hardware. The Farmhouse has four improvement slots: each Garden Extension uses one slot and adds four crop beds; Hearth & Pantry uses two slots and makes the home's fireplace a Cooking station. Choose how to spend the slots. Home projects and exterior choices belong to the property and are preserved when redeeded or shared. Use a deed from your pack, then choose valid meadow land away from roads, forests, water, resources, towns, camps, and named destinations. Homes use authored layouts rather than custom-house construction.

Furnishing & shopkeepers: Every character on an account may place furniture and hire their own character-owned shopkeepers inside any house shared by that account. Placing furniture now opens an in-world preview: choose its floor position, rotate it, and respect larger footprints or wall requirements. The house owner may move, rotate, or remove existing furnishings, while each shopkeeper's owner privately manages that vendor's stock, prices, proceeds, wages, and movement. Redeeding a shopkeeper creates a separate Employment Deed in the account Bag; it no longer counts as part of the old house and may be placed in another account-shared home. In Shared Vale, enable traveller purchases on a shopkeeper to reserve that merchant's listed goods exclusively for real players; leave it off for simulated Vale shopper sales.

Tinkering: Orin Bell's Vale City workshop is now a full Tinkering station. Tinkers create fine fittings, household metalwork, lamps, clocks, scales, lock and trap components, lockpicks for adventure chests and catacomb traps, deployable Spring Snares, and master precision devices. Small décor can sit directly on compatible tables, desks, dressers, storage chests, and workbenches. Player homes remain safe havens: Tinkering and Lockpicking do not permit breaking into another player's home. At 100 Tinkering, successful Precision Mechanisms have a rare 1% chance to become exceptionally durable Perfect Mechanisms.

Container windows: Backpack, bank, House Coffer, skiff cargo, and vendor stock can be browsed as visual item-icon windows. The Backpack includes filters such as Reagents and Waystones; marked and blank Waystones belong to the Waystones category.

Soundtrack: Music rotates among three original tracks per region—15 pieces total across town/home, the open Vale, Reedwater/coast, deep sea, and Hollow Barrow—using a sparse old-world fantasy atmosphere.

World messages: Gameplay feedback appears briefly in the world. During combat, only the two newest messages move into a safe upper lane so they do not cover the target health bar. The Journal keeps the complete message history.

Mobile play: Touch interfaces enlarge text, buttons, vitals, tabs, inventory controls, and modal actions. The bottom quickbar keeps common gameplay/navigation actions close at hand. Double-tap a tree, ore vein, or water tile to approach and gather/fish.

Exploration: Hollowmere Graveyard contains the entrance to Hollow Barrow. Briarwatch Ruins, Reedwater Reach, Mossmere Enclave, Ashfang territory, islands, camps, and other landmarks reward leaving the starter roads. Hollow Barrow remains a compact first dungeon built around the Ossuary, ruined chapel, and Warden Vault.

Grandmaster dungeon crafts: Barrow Ash recovered from dungeon enemies can be used at 100 Blacksmithing, Carpentry, or Tailoring for niche Gravebane/Spirit-Ward consumables, tying end-game crafting to adventure materials.

Petition the Crown: Report problems, balance notes, UI issues, strange behavior, or ideas without leaving the game. Up to five screenshots can be attached, and reports include useful version/location/device context for the private admin inbox.

Death: Resurrection currently uses a forgiving shrine system. Corpse retrieval remains intentionally deferred.
